I’m thrilled to offer services for local new & expecting families in addition to my postpartum course! Please see below for current offerings and more information.
Your birth journey doesn’t end when your baby is born. As your postpartum doula, I cover what to expect during your birth and 4th trimester (ideally while you’re still pregnant) and go over a support plan for your lying-in period. My role exists to help you navigate your physical and emotional transition into this new stage of motherhood (and what that means to you, your partner and any other members of the family) in a judgment-free manner using evidence-based and biological approaches.
Because postpartum is so complex, I ease new (and new again) mothers through the transition with included Mother Roaster services such as a sealing birth ceremony, postpartum healing bath, healing sitz bath herbs, an abdominal press, and lactation education (when desired). If interested, I offer education and examples about postpartum wraps for mom and can apply a belly bind during our time together.
Navigating Postpartum focuses on nurturing the new mother as she heals but also whole family care in this special new period. I promote Kangaroo Care/skin-to-skin and togetherness. I do not sleep train as doing so is not recommended until 6 months or older if you do choose to do so, and infants have a biological survival need to wake for the comfort of their parents (which prevents SIDS).
The care given varies by each family’s needs/wants, but the same services are available to everyone. I offer infant massage lessons (included) within our time together to help partners and siblings bond with the new arrival (and help baby when feeling gassy or uncomfortable). I also research the best local resources and in-person groups to meet each family’s unique postpartum needs. My families have access to my library of baby carriers, cloth diapers, breast pumps, parenting books, and other demonstration tools to try out and learn from.
I’m the one person you don’t need to worry about entertaining during postpartum. Hiring a Navigating Postpartum doula means you can be honest about your needs and dislikes so that I can help things improve. Postpartum doulas can often be essential in opening lines of communication post-birth. I am your advocate while you are pregnant, after birth and beyond. Since services are tailored to your family’s specific needs, you’ll benefit from my doula support whether it’s your first baby or 6th. I look forward to supporting you!
New clients receive a premium welcome kit with a variety of samples from different companies such as Mrs. Patel’s, Motherlove Herbal Company, Bamboobies, Noodle & Boo, and Beech-Nut.
Please keep in mind that per the role of a doula, I can not give medical advice or diagnosis.
Training: I trained as a birth doula through Harmony Doula Group in January 2017 and as a postpartum doula through DONA International in December 2018. I’m continuing my advanced doula education as I work on certifying through DONA and have completed training on working with trauma survivors. I am certified through the American Red Cross for Adult & Infant CPR/AED & First Aid and have 6 years of personal breastfeeding and babywearing experience, as well as some experience with postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD) and cloth diapering. I am a Certified Infant Massage USA Instructor, Mother Roaster and UCSD Certificated Lactation Educator. As a Volunteer Central Valley area Coordinator for Postpartum Support International, PMAD is a very important topic to me.
Coverage: Mountain House, Tracy, Lathrop, Manteca, Modesto, Ripon, Patterson, Stockton, Sacramento, Livermore, and Fremont/Newark. Don’t see your area mentioned? Contact me to see if we can work something out.
Availability: I’m available 3-5 hours at a time with varied days. We can chat and work out days that work for your schedule (consecutive or spread out).
In-Person Cost: Doula services require 12 hours minimum at $35/hr
All services require a non-refundable retainer at 50 percent of the contract cost. This retainer is applied toward hours worked and serves as a cancellation fee if services are ended early or a day is canceled without ample notice.
Please fill out the form below or call/text (925) 579-1826 to chat more.
Infant Massage & Communication Classes
I’m thrilled to offer infant massage & communication classes for babies ages newborn to 12 months and their caregivers (mom, dad, extended family, foster parents, adoptive parents, etc.) as a Certified Infant Massage USA Instructor. This is a fantastic class for expecting parents to take before their baby comes and then again once their little one is born!
Classes are available in 4-week group sessions, virtually, via private in-home classes, or through monthly community drop-in. In this class, caregivers and babies will deepen their bond, learn new skills and strengthen their communication gradually through nurturing touch. Infant massage classes are baby-led and massage strokes are done with your baby, not to baby. Post-massage discussion time allows for community between parents as well. I provide large 20″ practice dolls for expecting parents, older siblings or additional caregivers to practice along during class.
The full 4-week course includes your own bottle of organic saffron oil, as well as a folder with the strokes we’ve reviewed. Full course students have the opportunity to borrow pregnancy, labor and postpartum books from my library, as well as try samples from various companies such as Beech-Nut, Noodle & Boo, Mrs. Patel’s and Earth Mama. There are also natural beechwood teethers, tinctures, teas and oils available for sale.
Cost: $10 per monthly community class, $100 per full 4-week session, $30 per session for private in-home classes.
Ask about the discount for hosting a group session in your home!
Please visit the Events section on Facebook for current classes or email/message me to set one up in your area!
Call/text (925) 579-1826 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for info on upcoming classes! Please feel free to reach out about bringing classes to your area or hosting sessions in your own home!
Mother Roaster Services
As a Sacred Living Mother Roaster, I’m available for the following services a la carte or as add-ons to my postpartum doula services: Mother Blessing Celebration, Ceremonial Bath, Ceremonial Tea with Sealing Story Birth Journal, Belly Binding, Belly Firming Paste, Hot Stone Abdominal Press.
Home Prep While You Birth
I believe that the magic of birth shouldn’t hit the reality fan when you come home to a house that isn’t ready yet. You should be able to focus on healing and bonding with your new family. I meet with you in your home before your birth to get to know you as a family and evaluate areas of your home that may need to be addressed before the baby is born. I set up any last-minute items like stocking the fridge, starting a meal train, or light home pickup (maybe even coordinate a cleaner coming in). If you don’t have friends/family to support you via meal train I offer the option of picking up food for you and delivering meals personally or adding fresh-made meals to your postpartum doula services. I want your first moments home to give you a sense of relief, not stress you out because of what you came back to.
Nursery Room Design
Need help designing a safe space with the essentials? I can source baby-friendly and affordable items custom to your desired room theme or design. I also offer creative solutions for shared spaces and setup of the space. *Setting up the room does not include building furniture.
Baby Gear Consulting
Wondering when to wash the baby clothes or which items to register for? Let me help you build your registry based on the safest, most useful items for your family based on research and real-life experience. You’d be surprised how many baby products are either recalled or not recommended for the use they’re advertised as being great for! I can also help you pick a registry that makes purchasing gifts easier for your family.
Natural Light Maternity & Family Lifestyle Photography
There’s something so special about those candid moments in motherhood. I used to take photos of families (a few shots are shared below) but stopped to focus on my parenting website. I’m now offering maternity photos again, and family lifestyle photos as an add-on for my doula clients. Photos can be taken in your home, outdoors or in my home (there’s a ton of bright natural light). I can also recommend some fantastic photographers that I’ve worked with who specialize in different types of photography styles.
Please email me at email@example.com or call (925) 579-1826 to chat more.
